Identifying biomarkers of ageing using whole transcriptome sequencing

Department of Twin Research is co-coordinating this 3 year EU Framework 7 Project which started in January 2011 with funding of €3,000,000 and 4 research partners from 3 European countries incorporating genetics, epidemiology, bioinformatics and telomere biology EuroBATS should lead to discovery of novel biomarkers of ageing.

DTR Role

As well as co-coordinating the project, we are providing the tissue and blood samples from 850 volunteers within our twin cohort. This will be analysed using novel RNAs sequencing, telomere measurement and bioinformatics techniques.
